Helen Larson Lysne Else

Helen Larson Lysne Else, 87, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Carrington Medical Center.
Helen was born July 14, 1931, at home rural Maddock, ND to Andrew and Helga (Lageson) Larson. She attended grade school at the Arne School in Arne Township, Benson County, ND until the 8th grade.
She married Robert Lysne in July of 1950 at Viking Church, rural Maddock. Early in their marriage Robert worked on a road crew and they farmed near Oberon, ND. They moved to Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge in 1956 where Robert was employed as Administrative Clerk. They had 4 children.
After Robert’s death in 1974, she moved to Kensal and worked for Luidahl’s Grocery Store. In 1976 she moved to Carrington and was employed at Lindrud’s Department Store and as head housekeeper at the Carrington Hospital. She moved to Jamestown in 1980 and was employed in the dietary department of the ND State Hospital. Due to an injury she left that position and worked for a time at Pamida. She was proud to have acquired her G.E.D. in 1989, prior to her eldest grandchild graduating from high school.
She married George Else in April of 1981 and this union lasted until his death in 2011.
She was a wonderful gardener, canner, baker and cook. She sewed clothing for her daughters and their Barbie dolls. She knitted beautiful afghans. Her crafts were self-taught. In her later years she enjoyed cross-stitching, traveling, dancing, reading, playing cards and watching television.
She is survived by Larry (Sheila Dufford) Lysne, Glen (Jenine) Lysne, Susan (Jim) Bond and Jo Lysne (Kevin Beach), 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brothers Irvin, Tyler and David Larson.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with Pastor Rick Loewen officiating.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
