Helen M. LaSota, 80 years and 360 days, Jamestown, ND, died peacefully with her family by her side, on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at her daughter's home, Jamestown.
Helen Marie Johnson was born April 26, 1930, in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of Clyde and Eldee (Wright) Johnson. She graduated from the Haskell Boarding School in Kansas. Helen married Francis Robert LaSota on December 26, 1949 in Topeka, KS. They made their home at various Air Force bases in the Midwest while Francis worked for the United States Government, most recently at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. Helen worked for Borden's Dairy Co. in Alabama and for the air force base in Alabama.
She was a member of the Democratic Party and the Five Civilized Tribes-Cherokee, Oklahoma.
Helen enjoyed researching family history and genealogy, politics, reading about North Dakota oil exploration. She also collected costume jewelry, teacups, china and black amethyst.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Anita (Martin) Monek, Jamestown, ND; one son, Francis R. (Susan) LaSota, Jr.; four grandchildren, Heather and Rebecca, Jamestown and Nicole, Fairborn, OH and Robert, Columbus, OH; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Hayley, and R.J.; and one brother, Johnny (Frances) Johnson, Palmdale, CA
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; and one sister.
Memorial Service: to be held in Dayton, OH at a later date.
