Helen I. Niemeyer, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown.

Helen Flannery was born November 27, 1917 in Edgeley, North Dakota, the daughter of James J. and Alice (Farber) Flannery. She grew up in Jamestown, graduated from St. John's Academy and attended Jamestown College. On September 12, 1938, Helen married Louis E. Niemeyer at St. James Catholic Church in Jamestown. She raised her three children in Jamestown and has lived here since. Louis died on August 30, 2000.

Helen enjoyed traveling with her husband and playing bridge. She was a member of the Basilica of St. James where she was active in the Our Lady of Lord's Circle.

Helen is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Niemeyer Sumbs and Robert R. Sumbs, Los Altos Hills, CA and Mary K. & William E. Kennedy, Jamestown; one son, James L. & Jonell Niemeyer, Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren, Shannon M. Kennedy, Colin G. Kennedy, Jordan Louis and Alexandra G. Niemeyer and two sisters, Muriel Johnson and Lois & Roy Christensen, both of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Louis, two brothers, Dr. Hubert & Anastasia Flannery and James E. & Justine Rand Flannery and two sisters, Mary Alice & Roy Gossett and Veronica ""Bonnie"" Flannery.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM, Monday, October 31, 2005 at the Basilica of St. James with Father Al Bitz officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 30, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:45 PM, Sunday, October 30, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown with a Vigil following at 7:00 PM.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
