Helen Young

Helen Mae (Goodin) Young, 91, Jamestown, ND died Monday, November 3, 2014 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown. Helen was born in St. Joseph, MO, on May 10, 1923, the daughter of Lucille (Tripp) and William Goodin. She grew up and attended elementary school and high school there. On October 17, 1942, she and Drexel "Rex" Young eloped and were married in Elwood, Kansas. After living in California, Missouri, and Oklahoma, they moved to North Dakota and settled in Jamestown. After 70 years of marriage, Rex passed away, with Helen joining him 1 1/2 years later. Helen is survived by her son, Drexel (Sandy) Young, Jr., Jamestown, ND; three grandchildren, Kristy, Cathy, and Gregg; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rex, daughter, Nancy Engel, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, November 7, at Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Randy Jaspers, officiating.
Visitation: 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 6 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery.
