Henry "Hank" Fietzek

November 10, 1927 — November 15, 2017

Henry “Hank” Fietzek, 90, passed away Wednesday November 15, 2017 at Villa Maria Fargo, ND surrounded by family.

Henry Charles Fietzek was born November 10, 1927, in Jamestown, ND to George and Elise (Schulz) Fietzek. He attended school in Jamestown and received his diploma from Stutsman County Schools. He worked on his parents’ farm until he was inducted into the U.S. Army at the beginning of the Korean War, November, 1950-August, 1952 serving as a Staff Sergeant. Hank began farming again after returning from the Army.

On September 10, 1953, Hank was united in marriage to June Johnston at Millarton Lutheran Church, Millarton ND. Hank and June bought his dad’s farmstead and continued to farm until retiring March 27, 1991.

Hank was a member of the Millarton Lutheran Church then later St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND. He was dedicated and proud to be a long term member of both the Stutsman County Rural Fireman’s Board (Director) and the Severn Township Board (Supervisor) for which he enjoyed both serving and fellowship with other members.

Hank had many interests which were enjoyed with family and friends. He had an early love of baseball which he played in his younger years then later as an avid fan of watching the Minnesota Twins and other sports. He enjoyed hunting (pheasant, deer, and even moose) and fishing through the summer months at Devils Lake, ND and Buffalo Bay, Canada (where he caught a record size walleye which was mounted and hangs in their home entryway). Many summer holiday weekends were spent fishing and RV camping with family. Hank also loved to fly. He received his pilot's license by instructor Beth Lucy and owned several airplanes through the 1970s and 1980s. With all these fun interests came fun stories to share during family gatherings at the farm. He dearly loved his family and the time spent with them.

Hank will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 64 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loving, honest, caring man who worked hard all his life and gave of his time for family and friends.
