Herbert Bertsch, 86, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
Herbert K. Bertsch was born in McPherson County, South Dakota to Karl and Matilda (Pleinis) Bertsch on May 8, 1922. Herbert graduated from Ashley High School. He attended Minot State University and graduated from Ellendale Normal and Industrial College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He taught and coached in several North Dakota schools retiring in 1985. Herbert served in the United States Army from 1945-1947. He was a member of the Federated Church and Grafton Community Choirs in Grafton, ND for many years. Herbert was united in marriage to Orpha Wahl on November 25, 1943 in Ashley, ND.
Herbert is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Martha Schauer; and brothers, Adolph, Reinhold, and Edwin.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, with Pastor David Thompson officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel
Burial: 10:00 AM, Friday, January 23, 2009, North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota.
