Hertha Pfaff, 81, Tappen, North Dakota, died Monday, July 2, 2007 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND.
Hertha Roemmich was born October 27, 1925 at the family farm south of Tappen, she was the youngest child of Peter M. and Sophia (Roemmick) Roemmich. She married Simon Pfaff, Jr., on July 10, 1942 in Steele, ND. They lived their entire life in the Tappen area. As a young women Hertha was very active in her church and homemakers club. She and her husband farmed, then moved into town and ran the family cream station. She worked at the school as a cook and she and Pauline Reiker recovered furniture for many years. Following that she worked for Adam's Grocery in Tappen until her retirement. Simon died February 28, 2007.
Hertha was a very hard worker, helping build their homes and raising three children, a large garden and beautiful flowers. She did a lot of canning and was an exceptional cook, no one ever left her table hungry. Hertha was a very talented woman, doing quilting, crochet and embroidery, which is enjoyed by her children, grandchildren and many others.
She was a member of the Faith Evangelical Church in Crystal Springs, ND, the latter years of her life and before that a member of the Evangelical United Brethren (United Methodist Church) in Tappen.
Hertha is survived by her two sons, Donald (Doulie) Pfaff, Douglas, WY and Harlan (Linda) Pfaff, Sun City, AZ; one daughter, Gladys (Jerome) Koenig, Woodworth, ND; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Amelia Fuller, Steele, ND and one brother, Emil Roemmich, Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon; parents; three sisters, Ida, Elvina and Martha and two brothers, Jake and Eddy.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Faith Evangelical Church, Crystal Springs, ND with Rev. Jeff Smith officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:30 PM, Friday, July 6, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Friday, July 6, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Fisher Cemetery, Tappen, North Dakota.
