Hilda Otto, 92, Mandan, North Dakota, formerly of Jamestown died Monday, October 6, 2003 at MedCenter One in Bismarck. Hilda Shirley was born September 25, 1911 in Robinson, North Dakota the daughter of Gust and Petra (Hanson) Shirley. She attended school in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School. Hilda also attended Valley City State College for 2 years earning her teaching degree. On May 20, 1933 Hilda married Andrew Otto in Steele, ND. Hilda and Andrew farmed for several years before moving to Jamestown. Hilda moved to Mandan in 1999 where she resided until her passing. She enjoyed collecting rocks, fishing, cooking and baking.
Hilda is survived by one son, James (Lillian) Otto, Devils Lake, ND, three daughters, Jean (Irvin) Braunberger, Casper, WY; Carol (Art) Gums, Casper, WY and Beverly Bergson, Jamestown, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three brothers; Gilbert Shirley, Bismarck, ND; Melvin (Kay) Shirley, Fresno, CA and Glen Shirley, Underwood, ND and two sisters, Agnes Glock, Bismarck, ND and Evelyn Giese, Steele, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Patricia Otto, two granddaughters, Marilyn Zahr and Karen Gums, a great-granddaugher, Faith Lindstrom, three brothers, Edwin, Orville and Art and four sisters, Gladys, Gilma, Edna and Minnie.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 9, 2003 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating.
Visitation: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
