Howard Severson, 58, Moorhead, Minnesota, formerly of Jamestown, ND died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Howard was born July 26, 1949 in Valley City, ND, the son of Kasper and Minnie (Venhuizen) Severson. He grew up and attended school in Wimbledon, graduating in 1967. Howard joined the U.S. Army in 1969, served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on November 12, 1970. He married Diane Paasch shortly after returning from Vietnam. Howard drove truck for Coke Cola in Jamestown for a few years. He worked at Western Gear for 22 years. He married Carolyn Kreutsberg. Howard was employed as a welder for Haybusters for two years. In 1996 Howard married Ruth Swenson-Olson in Fargo. They lived in Jamestown where Howard worked for Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center until he was disabled with Lou Gehrig's disease.
Howard enjoyed farming, Harley Davidson motorcycles and John Deere tractors. His daughter, Katelin, was the love of his life.
Howard is survived by his wife, Ruth, Moorhead, MN; one daughter, Katelin Severson, Moorhead, MN; one brother, Kelly (Tina) Severson, Wimbledon, ND; two sisters, Dawn Severson (Dale Haas), Bismarck, ND and Darlene Davis, Wimbledon, ND; his mother-in-law, Geraldine Swenson, Fargo, ND; three stepdaughters, Dawn (Jim) Jauch, Farmington, MN, Kay (Steve) Beckermann, Fargo, ND and Rebecca (Shane) Kullman, St. Paul, MN; six grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Rodney Davis.
Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, June 20, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Gary Ball-Kilbourne officiating and Herber Golden III delivering the eulogy.
