Ida Flaig

Ida Flaig, 90, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Saturday morning, January 21, 2017 at Eventide, Jamestown.

Ida was born October 8, 1926, in Jud, ND, the daughter of Michael and Dorthea (Rempfer) Bossart. She grew up in Jud and graduated from Jud High School. Thereafter, she taught at a country school for a short time before moving to Sioux City, IA for a while then returned to the area. She married Lloyd Flaig on November 1, 1946 at the Lutheran Church Parsonage in Jamestown. They made their home on a farm north of Alfred, ND then later moved to a farm northeast of Gackle. During that time she worked as a clerk of a country school in Alexandria Township for several years. In 1970, they moved to a farm east of Gackle where they raised small grains. Ida worked alongside Lloyd on the farm and will always be remembered for all the sacrifices she made for her family. They moved to Jamestown in 2009 and Lloyd died on August 12, 2010.

Ida’s greatest love was being with family. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, reading, music, watching sports on TV, and reading her bible every day.

Ida is survived by her children, Gail Iszler, Jamestown; Marilyn Nitschke, Jamestown; Shelby (Marilyn) Flaig, Bismarck, ND; John (Darlene) Flaig, Montpelier, ND; Joe (Rita) Flaig, Auburn, WA; and Leora (Paul) Brady, Jud; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Gilmore, Jud and Alvina Nitschke, Jud; and son-in-law, Mark Buchholtz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Trudie Buchholtz; son-in-law, Norman Nitschke; and two brothers, Darwin Bossart and Oscar Bossart in infancy.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Visitation : 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service : 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Interment: Alfred Cemetery, Alfred, ND.
