Ida Kleven

Ida Kleven, 89, Medina, North Dakota, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Mandan Care Center, Mandan, ND.

Ida Gilbertson was born October 21, 1919 in rural Medina, the daughter of Andrew and Betsy (Olson) Gilbertson. Ida attended elementary school in Crystal Springs, ND and graduated from Tappen High School. Ida taught school in rural Tappen and in Peterson township. Ida married George Kleven, from the Medina area, in 1947 in Jamestown. They purchased the family farm northwest of Medina and resided there until 1991. George passed away on June 29, 2000.

Ida loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower garden, gardening and baking.

Ida is survived by two daughters, Judy (Steve) Hoffer, Bismarck, ND and Linda (Ronald) Oberlander, Mizzoula, MT; one son, Wayne (Nancy) Kleven, Medina; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys McGruder, Medina and Minnie (Rudy) Mittleider, Tappen, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, with Pastor Chris Hogstad officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, North Dakota
