Ida Zimmerman, 94, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, August 7, 2006 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.
Ida Becker was born March 28, 1912 at her family's farm home, 12 miles east of Napoleon, ND, the daughter of Henry H. and Katherine (Kogler) Becker. She attended school in Dixon township in Logan county.
Ida married Jake Zimmerman on May 12, 1936 at the Baptist church in Streeter, ND. They lived in Hardin, Montana for a few months where she worked at a sugar beet factory. They returned to North Dakota and started farming east of Napoleon. In 1953 they moved to Jamestown. She started work at the North Dakota State Hospital from 1954 until May 30, 1976 when she retired. Ida's husband, Jake, died on December 27, 1982, after a long illness. Ida continued to live at her home in Jamestown until 2000 when she entered Central Dakota Village.
She enjoyed cooking German food, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Arlene Johnson, Jamestown; two granddaughters, Shannan (Tim) Stinar and and Stephanie (Brian) Zimprich; one great-granddaughter, Paige Zimprich; a brother, Eddie Becker, Jamestown and a few nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son-in-law, Robert Johnson, one sister, Tillie Lang and one brother, Art Becker.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Jamestown with Rev. David Thompson officiating.
Visitation: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota
