August 19, 1909 — December 13, 2009

Inez Elnora Roe, 100, Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, December 13, 2009.

Inez Zimmerman was born August 19, 1909 in Stutsman County, the daughter of Frank and Karen (Dobson) Zimmerman, and lived her whole life in North Dakota. She was raised on the Frank Zimmerman family homestead near Cleveland, ND. She had many fond memories of her growing up years. She graduated from St. John's Academy in Jamestown, ND, in May 1928. After graduation, Inez taught school in Deer Lake Township. On September 21, 1929, she married Arthur Roe, in Windsor, ND. For many years they farmed together. She loved farm life including all the hard work and took great pride in the raising of her large family. Later she found joy in watching her children raise their own families. Inez found beauty in all of life, especially the plains of North Dakota.

Inez had intellectual curiosity which motivated her to never stop reading or learning. She was always open to new ideas. Her open heart and mind allowed her to befriend many different kinds of people. Her genuine and open honesty was truly unique. She was loved by many and will be missed.

She is survived by her six children: Weston (Shirley), Austin, TX, Lawrence (Lyn), Canton, TX, Cynthia (Marwin) Smith, Sun Lakes, AZ, Dennis (MaryJane), Foothill Ranch, CA, Jennifer (Gary) Paulsrud, Fargo, ND and Andrew (Judy), St. Paul, MN; daughter-in-law Gladys Roe, Allegan, MI; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband Arthur; daughter, Karen; and son, Leonard.
