Irene Geisler, 71, Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, ND.
Irene Viola Geisler was born December 8, 1935 on the family farm south of Kulm, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Christina (Heil) Schrum. She was raised on the family farm and attended the rural school. In 1953, she moved to Edgeley, ND with her family. On January 2, 1954, she married Herbert Geisler in Merricourt, ND and they settled on a farm near Millarton, ND. In 1960, they moved to Jamestown, ND where Irene worked at Jamestown Hospital and later at the North Dakota State Hospital until 1970. She also provided foster care for disabled adults. Herbert died on July 10, 1996.
Irene was a member of the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ. She enjoyed leather tooling and going out for coffee with her friends.
Survivors include 4 children: Jim (Fran) Geisler, Jamestown, ND, Donna (Wes) Wiberg, Jamestown, ND; Connie Sabinash, Jamestown, ND; Bonnie (Lee) Gessner, Penn, ND; 8 grandchildren: Chad Pahl, Jamestown, ND; Shaun Pahl, Fargo, ND; Tina (Christopher) Erickson, Tea, SD; Travis (Jennifer) Sabinash, Fort Lewis, WA; Tanya Sabinash, Jamestown, ND; Todd Sabinash, Jamestown, ND, Dustin Schmidt, Fargo, ND; Jonathan Koenig, Grand Forks, ND; 4 great-grandchildren: Makayla and Madison Erickson; Savanna and Cheyenne Sabinash; Jim and Fran Geisler's 3 children and 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren: Jason (Heidi) Wiberg, Lakota, ND; Ryan Wiberg, Avon SD; Travis Wiberg, Fargo, ND; 1 step-great-grandson; 5 siblings: Reinhold (Ruth) Schrum, Litchville, MN; Violet (Otto) Untersher, Fargo, ND; Melvin (Pat) Schrum, Fort Morgan, CO; Adeline Hartman, Edgeley, ND and Carrie Bernhagen, Edgeley, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 brothers: Albert, Fred, Wilbert, Ivan, John and Jacob and 4 sisters: Freida, Ellen, Rose and Pauline.
Funeral - 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 at First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, Jamestown, ND with Reverend Susan Lester officiating.
Visitation - 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services in the church on Saturday.
Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. Friday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Interment - Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
