Irene Anna Pitra

Irene Anna, Pitra, 93, Kensal, ND, died November 10, 2016 at her home in Kensal.

Irene (Nogosek) Pitra was born November 15, 1922 at Kensal, the daughter of Louis & Theresa (Neva) Nogosek. She attended Nogosek rural grade school and graduated from Kensal High shool in 1941. She then attended Valley City State College and taught school in rural McKinley & Bucephalia schools. She married Francis “Bud” Pitra in 1948 at St. John’s Catholic Church. They farmed and lived in Kensal. Bud passed away in 2006 and she continued to live in her home at Kensal. She belonged to St. John’s Altar Society and served on the cemetery board for many years.

Irene like to play Bingo and toddies with the girls. She loved being outdoors, polka music, dancing, and working on her local news scrapbook. In her younger years she enjoyed driving her 830 John Deere tractor and loved riding in the pickup. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Irene is survived by her two sons, Quentin (Quyen), Kensal and Michael (Connie), Jamestown; daughter, Susan (Arden) Holte, Jamestown; four grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Harriett Devillers and Marcia Kruger; two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, LuVerne and Leland; infant sister, Phyllis; two sisters, Mildred Schrade and Lorraine Wright; five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; two nephews; and one niece.

Mass of Christian Burial : 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Kensal, ND with Father John Ejike officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown and 5:30pm to 6:30pm, Monday, November 14, 2016 at the church.

Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Kensal.

Interment: St. John Cemetery, Kensal.
