Irene Thompson, 85, Jamestown, ND, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.

Irene Natalie Bredeson was born June 22, 1926 in Hamburg, ND, the daughter of Maurice and Emma (Hagen) Bredeson. The family moved to Wellsberg, ND where she attended school through 8th grade. She went to high school in Harvey and Woodworth, graduating from Woodworth High School in 1945. After high school Irene worked for Tommy Thompson in the café. She returned to Harvey in 1946 where she worked for Gambles and the JC Penney Co. In 1949 she attended Minot Business College and upon completion of her business courses in 1950, she became cashier and bookkeeper at JC Penney in Harvey. On June 27, 1951 Irene married Lester "Bud" Thompson in Harvey.

They lived in Woodworth, owning Thompson's Oil Company until 1970 when they moved to Jamestown.

Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, where she was active in Stephens Ministries. She enjoyed reading, sewing and doing crafts.

Irene is survived by two daughters, Rendae (Steve) Flaig, Jamestown and Sonja Kotzer, Texas; two stepsons, Loren Thompson, Pasco, WA and Charles (Lorraine) Thompson, Valley City, ND; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Evelyn (Elmer) Harr, Montesano, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and two sisters.
