Irvin Olaf Kleven

Irvin Olaf Kleven, 87, Medina, North Dakota died Friday, June 25, 2004 at his home in Medina under hospice care.

Irvin was born November 12, 1916, to Ole Ida (Judin) Kleven north of Crystal Springs, ND. He was educated at the Peterson School north of Medina, ND. In 1937, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Priest River, Idaho. During World War II, Irvin served in the Pacific Theater with the 129th Infantry from February 1942 to October 1945. He attained the rank of Buck Sergeant and was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and Infantry Badge. Irvin married Ileen May Hills on October 26, 1950. In 1948, Irvin began farming in Buckeye Township, north of Tappen, ND and they lived there until moving to Medina in 1994.

Irvin is survived by his wife, Ileen Kleven, Medina, ND; son, Ronald (Diane) of West Fargo, ND; daughters, Elaine Zarr, Bismarck, ND, Laura (Duane) Erickson, Jamestown, ND, and Marilyn (Daryl) Slaughter, Medina, ND; one brother, Clarence, Medina, ND; one sister, Scotty Kenney, Anacortez, WA; eleven grandchildren, Carisa and Clint Zarr, Breanna (Aron) Cohen, Joel and Jared Kleven, Angie and Dustin Erickson, and Brandon, Kami, Kent, and Sara Slaughter.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Mevin, Syver, Rudy, and George; two sisters, Florence and Ollie; and one granddaughter, Kayla.

Funeral Service: 2:00PM, Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, ND with Rev. Robert Pestal officiating.

Visitation: Monday, June 28, 2004 from 1:00PM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Fisher Cemetery, Tappen, ND
