Jack Barnes

Jack M. Barnes, 84, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.

Mr. Barnes was born October 17, 1922 in Oak Harbor, Ohio, the son of Roy E. and Luella C. (Wohlers) Barnes. Jack grew up and attended school in Oak Harbor. He began farming in 1938 in Ohio and farmed with his brother, first in Ohio, and in 1948 they moved to North Dakota and continued to farm. Jack married Audrey Bloomfield on March 21, 1953 in Oak Harbor. They moved to North Dakota in 1963 and farmed north of Courteny, ND. They spent 24 winters in Arizona.

Jack was a member of Mabel Lutheran Church in Sutton, ND and served on the church board for many years. He was also on the board of the Courtenay Elevator and the Farmers Union in Sutton.

He enjoyed going on trail rides and loved horses. He was a cowboy at heart. He also enjoyed hunting, reading, traveling and oil painting, of which he was blessed with an amazing talent.

Jack is survived by his wife, Audrey, of Jamestown; two sons, Bradley (Jan) Barnes, Courtenay and Craig (Robin) Barnes, Thayne, WY; one daughter, Cindy Barnes, Jamestown; two grandchildren, Curt and Kelli Barnes; one step-grandson, Chad Helmick and two great grandsons, Dustin and Blake Helmick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Don, and one sister, Eileen Millinger.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Mabel Lutheran Church, Sutton, ND with Pastor Wayne Gallipo officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
