Jack Knudson, 62, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at home. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND.
Jack Wayne Knudson was born July 26, 1944 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Knut and Grace (Hoehne) Knudson. He was raised in Adrian, ND, Missouri, Illinois and then moved back to Adrian, ND. He attended school in both Adrian and Dickey, ND, graduating from Dickey High School in 1963. Following his graduation, he joined the United States Army where he was stationed for 2 years in Hawaii and then served with the 25th Infantry Division HHC, 2nd BN, 27th Infantry as a radio teletype operator in the Republic of Viet Nam, Han Nghia Province. After his honorable discharge in May of 1966, he returned to Adrian, ND where he worked for his nephew-in-law for a brief time. On January 20, 1968, he married Elaine Roehrich at Dickey, ND and they moved to Elgin, IL, where he worked for Illinois Tool Works in the Shake-Proof Division for 8 years. They moved to Jamestown, ND where he worked for 2 years at Bloom Oil Company. He then worked for the city of Jamestown for 28 years, first as a water plant operator and then as Superintendent of the Jamestown Water Plant.
Jack was a member of The Basilica Of St. James, VFW Post 760 and the American Legion Post 500. He served on the North Dakota Operator Certification Advising Committee Grade III and IV.
Survivors include his wife; 2 children: Christine (Warren) Wahl, Jamestown, ND; Aaron Knudson, Colorado Springs, CO; 2 grandchildren: a wonderful granddaughter, Ashley and beloved adopted grandson, Timothy, both Jamestown, ND; 2 sisters: Karen McKnight, Chesapeake, VA; Joy (Alan) Carpenter, Dickey, ND; 2 brothers: Darwin (Diane) Knudson, Dandridge, TN and Gary (Karen) Knudson, Rock City Falls, NY. He leaves behind cousins, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and many, many friends and colleagues that he thought so highly of.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Bea Schrader and June Slimp and a brother, Tunney.
Funeral Service - 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2007 at The Basilica Of St. James, Jamestown, ND with Father John McGinnis officiating.
Visitation - Noon to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Interment - North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan, ND
