Jack Stroh, 93, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.
Jack Stroh was born near McClusky, North Dakota on October 19, 1914 to Peter and Katrena (Derheim) Stroh. Jack moved to Jamestown in 1919 and attended Jamestown Public Schools. He then worked as a truck driver and baker at Flannery Bakery. Jack married Margaret Wehler on February 15, 1941. He joined the U.S. Army-Air Force in 1942 during World War II and spent three years in Italy returning home in 1945. Jack worked as a Veterans Service Officer for one year. He started a Bus and Cab Company in partnership with Johnny Wehler his brother-in-law. He owned and operated the Rollerrena Roller Skating with his brother-in-law Norris Torkelson for about 10 years. Jack later worked at the State Hospital in Admissions for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of Jamestown Elks, VFW and American Legion. His hobbies were fixing small engines, gardening, hunting, fishing and skating. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Jamestown, ND; one daughter, Sandie (Gary) Sahr, Jamestown, ND; one son, Tom (Debbie) Stroh, Spiritwood, ND; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Lippert, Portland, Ore., Tillie Haas, Blue Rapids, KS and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Jacqueline Oker, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Dennis Ellingsen, officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, August 25 at Eddy Funeral Home
