Jacob A. ""Jake"" Vogel, 81, Pettibone, ND, died Monday, January 9, 2007 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.
Mr. Vogel was born May 31, 1925 in Pettibone, the son of Jacob and Katherine (Guthmiller) Vogel. He grew up and attended Pettibone schools. Jake entered the US Army on March 27, 1945 at Ft. Snelling, MN and served until September 28, 1945. He returned to North Dakota and farmed in Petersville township, north of Pettibone, all his life. He also owned and operated The Pettibone Bar in Pettibone.
Jake loved playing cards, especially Pinochle. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone.
Jake is survived by his sister-in-law, Irene Vogel, Jamestown; four nieces; Renee (Myron) Schulz, Jamestown, Shirley Schmitt, Jamestown, Marleen (Paul) Councilman, Pingree and Shelly (Chris) Speelmon, Fargo; two nephews; Larry (Linda) Vogel, Bismarck and Jason (Christy) Vogel, Jamestown; 11 great nieces and nephews and two great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, ND with Rev. Tom Eckstein officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Petersville Cemetery, Pettibone, North Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone or Jamestown Hospital Hospice.
