James "Jim" Emo, 83, Jamestown, ND died at Eventide at Hi-Acres under hospice care on Saturday, March 19, 2011.
James Anthony Emo was born on October 26, 1927 at Jamestown, ND the son of A.B. "Tony" and Mary Ann (Seiler) Emo. He attended St. Johns Academy, Jamestown, ND, Homer Township School #2 and Jamestown High School. Jim worked with his parents on the farm and then served in the Merchant Marine for a short time before he joined the U. S. Army on February 27, 1947. Following his discharge on July 31, 1948, he returned to the farm until 1949 when he went to work for the U. S. Postal Service as a substitute Clerk/Carrier in Jamestown. In 1952 he transferred to the Railway Mail Service, working on several branch lines between Jamestown and Miles City, Montana. Jim married Margaret (Conley) Hanson at Aberdeen, SD on Nov. 13, 1952. In 1960 he became employed in road construction, eventually became a road foreman with several local contractors until he retired in 1990. He married Doris (Bauske) Stromberg on Dec. 29, 1968. After retiring he worked as a security guard at Las Vegas, Dallas and Reno, NV before returning to his farmstead in Corwin Township. He also worked for several area farmers helping as harvest time.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Cindy Shores, McKinney, Texas and Jackie (Shawn) Graves, Jamestown, ND; 4 grandchildren, Cristi Shores, Alvarado, TX, Tommy Shores, Dallas, TX, Travis Graves, Minot, ND, and Jamie Graves, Jamestown; 2 great grandchildren, Christina Shores and Jake Hobbs; 1 great-great grandchild, Jackson Graves; 2 brothers, Paul (Arla) Emo, Jamestown and Bill (Pat) Emo, Brookville, FL; sister, Josephine Wilks, Garland, TX; a special friend, JoAnne Sullivan, Jamestown; and his 2 favorite dogs, Charlie and Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, 1 brother Jerome and 2 sisters, Mary and Ann.
Funeral Service:
3:00p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2011 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
Visitation:
1:00pm to 5:00pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Interment:
Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Jamestown Hospital Hospice or Hi-Acres Manor, both of Jamestown.
