James “Jim” Miklas, 67, Courtenay, ND, died Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
James Harold Miklas was born April 17, 1952, in Kensal, ND, the son of Joseph (“Joe”) and Laura (Romelfanger) Miklas. Jim farmed with his family and attended school in Courtenay. Jim married Gwyn (Rall) on April 21, 1975, and they moved to the back to the Courtenay area to succeed his parents in operating the farm upon their retirement. Jim enjoyed country living on the family farm until his death.
Jim had a deep faith and love for his family, friends, and the farm. In addition to managing the farm, Jim enjoyed repairing various things in his shop, hunting, fishing, westerns, and driving through God’s country. Jim was loved by many for his honor, strong work ethic, kindness, and sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include a daughter, Natalie, Centennial, CO; a grandson, Kayden, Centennial, CO; two sisters, Mary (Russ) Haas, Bismarck, ND, Dorothy Conley, Grand Forks, ND; companion Theresa Swanson, Courtenay; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gwyn, his parents; two brothers, Larry and Frank; and a brother-in-law, Pat Conley.
Service and Interment: A date will be set for late spring to take place at St. John’s Cemetery, Kensal, ND
