James Porter Sr.

James ""Jim"" M. Porter, Sr., 60, Jamestown, ND, died Friday, September 23, 2011 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Jim was born May 9, 1951 to Robert and Carol (Young) Porter in Huron, SD. He moved to Mobridge, SD where he attended school until he moved to Jamestown with his mother and sister. He married Darlene Edinger on October 5, 1968 in Jamestown. Jim worked for Boyd Standard, Mellands Appliance, Gardenette and as a CNA at the ND State Hospital until he had to retire due to his poor health. Jim will be greatly missed by his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Darlene, Fargo, ND; one son, Jim, Jr. (Cara) Porter, Jamestown; three daughters, Carol Marie, Denison, TX, Mari (Mike) Kesler, Jamestown, Karen Kinzler, Fargo; his mother, Carol Linngren (Dale Edlund), Spearfish, SD; one sister, Jeannie (Mike) Maher, Spearfish, SD; two brothers, Mark and Scott Porter, both of Omaha, NE; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
