Jan Mckay

Jan McKay, 49, Jamestown, ND died Friday, January 20, 2006 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND.

Jan Johnson was born October 16, 1956 in Valley City, ND the daughter of Warren and Esther (Scheafer) Johnson. She moved with her parents to Jamestown and received her education there, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1974. Jan worked for Scherbenske & Son Excavating, Jamestown for a few years. Jan married Ric McKay on September 21, 1979 in Bismarck, ND. She was employed by Alpha Opportunities for 18 years as a direct service trainer and supervisor. Jan cared for those she worked with as if they were family. Helping people was her passion, not just work. Jan enjoyed life to the fullest and enlightened lives wherever she went. She was a member of the Elkettes.

Jan is survived by her husband, Ric McKay, Jamestown, ND; mother, Esther Johnson, Jamestown, ND; sister, Jill Tahran, Jamestown, ND; sister, Judy (Tony) Tunnel, Tennessee; brother, Rodney Johnson, Jamestown, ND; brother, Robert (Janice) Johnson, Dickinson, ND; twin brother, Joel Johnson, Massachusetts; 10 nieces and nephews; and 5 godchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and one beloved brother-in-law, Don Tahran.

Funeral Service: 1:30PM, Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Dick Boyd officiating.

Visitation: Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 1:00PM to 8:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:00PM, Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
