Jane E. Aune

March 24, 1959 — September 16, 2012

Jane Elizabeth Aune, 53, of Jamestown, ND, died peacefully at her home Sunday, September 16, 2012 ending a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Jane was born on March 24, 1959, in Dickinson, ND, the daughter of James and

Loretta (Mintz) McKenzie. Jane was raised in Mandan, ND where she graduated from high school in 1977. Jane attended Moorhead State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Art. She began her teaching career as the Art and Music Instructor at the Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown.

Jane and Ken Aune were married on August 13, 1988 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bismarck. They lived in Jamestown for a short time and then moved to Valley City and Jane taught at Oriska.

She was deployed and served overseas with the Army Reserve during Desert Storm. Jane returned to North Dakota to teach at Fort Totten, and later at Bismarck. She attained her Master's Degree in Counseling from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD and became the counselor at Jamestown High School.

Jane was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and spending time with family and friends.

Jane is survived by her husband, Ken Aune of Jamestown; one son Nicholas

(Lindsay) Aune and their son, James of Moorhead, MN; parents, James and

Loretta McKenzie of Mandan; one brother, James (Cindi) McKenzie of

New Enterprise, PA; two sisters, Julie (Nils) Eldagsen of Mandan

and Jodi (Doug) Gerving of Bismarck; two nieces, Tessa and Breanna; and one nephew, Braeden.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Gottlieb and Christina Mintz, Homer and Pearl McKenzie.


Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Jamestown High School Theater, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at

Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Concordia

Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
