Jeanette Ebertz, 85, Jamestown, North Dakota died Friday, April 23, 2004 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.
Jeanette D. Ebertz was born March 10, 1919 in Jamestown, North Dakota the daughter of Joseph and Angela Maria (Catallo) Ranallo. Jean grew up in the Eldridge, ND area and received her high school diploma from Eldridge High School where she was an outstanding basketball player. She played for the Eldridge 1936 State Girls Championship team. Jean spent most of her life in the Eldridge and Jamestown area, but did live for short periods of time in Leeds and Grand Forks, ND, Chicago, IL and Dallas, TX. During WWII she received training at UND for service with the Signal Corps from which she received an honorable discharge. She married Anthony J. ""Tony"" Ebertz on June 8, 1945 in Grand Forks, ND while Tony was on leave from his duties as a B-24 pilot with the US Army Air Corp.
When Jean was younger she loved to garden, especially her flower garden. She did a lot of craft work and was a very good oil painter, flower arranger and excellent at ceramic work. Jean also found time to become a fairly good golfer.
She enjoyed reading, watching T.V. and Bible studies.
Until March 2004 Jean lived in her own home, the last six months with the aid of her care giver, Ardella Walker. Ardella made it possible for Jean to stay in her own home longer, along with Meals on Wheels and Lifeline.
Jean is survived by her children, Anthony G. ""Jerry"" (Randy) Ebertz, Tuscon, AZ; Catherine (Edward) Lulai, Fargo, ND; Joanne (Tom) Schonauer, Buffalo Grove, IL and Gregory (Bob) Ebertz, San Francisco, CA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Glory Ebertz, Jamestown, ND; a sister-in-law, Helen Ranallo, Jamestown, ND; a brother-in-law, Joseph (Millie) Ebertz, Jamestown, ND and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Albert and three sisters, Elvira, Carmel and Alta.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Father Al Bitz officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Vigil: 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
