Jerry Phillip Baenen

Jerrold “Jerry” P. Baenen, 84, lifelong resident of Jamestown, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016.

Jerry was born November 26, 1932, to Arthur and Kathryn Baenen. He attended St. John’s Academy and later graduated from St. John’s University. On May 29, 1954, he married the love of his life, Shirley Kosloske. They moved to Jamestown in 1955. Jerry opened Town House Liquors and owned commercial rental properties until 1974. A lifelong learner, Jerry returned to college and earned a Masters in Accounting and Business Law from UND.

He worked as a CPA and taught classes for VCSC, but his most rewarding career was as the administrator of Alpha Opportunities, Inc. Active in civic and fraternal affairs, Jerry was a member of the Jamestown City Council for 10 years, and served on numerous boards and foundations. He was a past exalted ruler of the Jamestown Elks Lodge and a member of the North Dakota Society of Certified Public Accountants. Jerry enjoyed golfing, gardening, music and reading; however, his greatest love was his family.

He is survived by his wife Shirley; three sons, Jeffrey (Laura), Randall (Deena), and Steven (Amy); two daughters, Kathy (Mark) Ottmar and Julie (Charlie) Jeske; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great granddaughters, one brother, Tom (Paige) and sister, Jane Schneider.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Richard and Michael. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, at a later date.
