Jerry Miller

September 6, 1952 — January 20, 2025

Jerome L. (Jerry) Miller, 72, Jamestown, ND passed away Monday, January 20th, 2025 at his home.

Jerry Miller was born to Joseph and Isabella Miller on September 6, 1952 in Hague, ND. He lived in Hague, and later Bismarck during his early elementary school years. In 1965, the family moved to Mobridge, SD where his dad was promoted to Sweetheart Bakery.

After having attended Mobridge High School, Jerry went to work for Wright Tree Service in Milwaukee, WI. He moved back to Mobridge to start work with Holzworth Bros. Furniture and Appliances. It was then that he started his own tree service on the side.

On September 6, 1975 Jerry married Karen Keller in Mobridge. In July of 1979, Karen and Jerry moved with their first daughter, Alison Marie to LaMoure, ND, where they became operators of Millers Clothing. While in LaMoure, Jerry and Karen expanded the clothing business, added shoe repair and Karen operated the upholstery shop. He also began his tree moving business. In 1983, Jerry and Karen’s second child, Aaron Joseph was born in Valley City, ND.

In 1986, they dissolved the clothing business and moved to Jamestown, ND where they continued the shoe repair and upholstery business. This is where he expanded the many facets of his tree service, aka Jerry’s Tree Service. Jerry continued the tree service until his health started to decline in 2020.

Jerry’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, gun and classic car collecting, snowmobiling, watching sports, and music. His most remembered gig, was during his teen years, playing lead guitar in a rock and roll band.

Jerry will be remembered for his generosity and his abilities to become a great provider for his family. He had an outstanding appreciation for humor and loved to make people laugh. Most notably, we will always treasure and never forget his funny quirks and nicknames for almost everyone he met.

Jerry is survived by Karen, Jamestown;  daughter, Alison (Brian) Offner; son, Aaron Miller, Jamestown; daughter, Amy (Darrin) Leyendecker, West Fargo, ND; daughter, Abby Miller, Jamestown; five grandchildren (Jacob, Jordan, Zachariah, Isabella, Rylee), brother, Erv (Peggy) Miller, Mobridge, SD; sister, Darlene Lockert, Cedar Falls, IA; sister LaDonna (Steve) Hamre, Black Hawk, SD; sister Melissa Miller (James Alkire), Chandler, AZ;  special family members Julie and Ellie Newton, Durham, NC; Pamela Syverson, Jamestown, ND; MiKayla Deal, Valley City ND; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws.
