Joan Carlson, 75, Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.

Joan Arlene Fletcher was born March 15, 1934 in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of York and Erma (Sherman) Fletcher. She was raised and attended school in Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1952. She worked at the City Laundry in Jamestown and also cared for her grandmother. On May 1, 1957, she married Carl Duane Carlson at St. John's Catholic Church in Kensal, ND. They lived at Kensal and later at Courtenay, ND and Duane farmed in Kensal, ND. In 1963, Joan began working at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown, ND. She retired in 1993, after 30 years.

Joan was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Jamestown. She enjoyed her dog "Charlie", watching auto racing, especially racer Jeff Gordon and watching her son-in-law and grandsons race.

Survivors include her husband, Duane, Jamestown, ND; a daughter, Brenda (John) Corell, Jamestown, ND; 2 grandsons: John Corell Jr., Jamestown, ND; Jason (April) Corell, Jamestown, ND; 2 brothers: Allan (Nancy) Fletcher, Jamestown, ND; Richard (Vera) Fletcher, Courtenay, ND; a sister, Corinne (DeWayne) Kolness, Mahnomen, MN and many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers: Bill, Art and Jim and a sister, Cathryn Ann.

Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, ND

Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND

Interment - Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
