John Goehring

John Goehring, 76, Dickey, ND, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at his home in Dickey.
John Benjamin Goehring was born January 16, 1931 in Saratoga Township near Dickey, ND, the son of Francis and Ruth (Ames) Goehring. He was raised in Saratoga Township and attended Roscoe Township School #1 and Dickey Public School. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 aboard the U.S.S. Sperry. Following his discharge, he worked at a cotton gin in Arizona and a mine in Nevada before returning to Dickey, ND. In 1959, he began working for Streak Oil Company in Adrian, ND and in 1961, he and Adrian Schulte went into partnership and purchased the oil company changing its name to Valley Fuel Company. On November 4, 1961, he married Marie Triepke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Adrian, ND and they made their home in Dickey, ND. In 1968, John bought out the business from Adrian Schulte and operated both the bulk plant and the service station in Dickey. John and Marie moved to a farm south of Dickey in 1969. John retired in March of 1993.
John was a member of the Valley City VFW. He enjoyed gardening and raising cattle.
Survivors include his wife, Marie, Dickey, ND; 6 children: Sandra (Carter) Podoll, Princeton, NJ; Steven Goehring, Bismarck, ND; Susan (Robert) Wentz, Bismarck, ND; Sara (Elvis) Miller, Bismarck, ND; Stuart (Pamela) Goehring, New Salem, ND; Sharon (Corey Wetzstein) Goehring, Bismarck, ND; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 6 siblings: Rhoda (Perry) Roscoe, Olalla, WA; Lawrence (Susan) Goehring, Dickey, ND; Norman (Sue) Goehring, LaMoure, ND; Marion Whitman, Harmon, Maryland; Jean (LeRoy) Lyon, Lake Bay, WA; and Ray (Myra) Goehring, Mesquite, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Warren and Bernard.
Funeral Service - 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Adrian, ND
Visitation - Noon to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2007 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Private Family Interment - Dickey Cemetery, Dickey, ND
