John R Grim

John Grim, 92, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 3, 2019 at Eventide, Jamestown.
John R. Grim was born March 12, 1927, the son of Merrel Delano and Alice Jean (O’Brien) Grim in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the US Navy on January 27, 1950. After being released from active duty on May 21, 1952, John attended Valley City State University. While attending college, John met and married Barbara R. Paulson on December 4, 1950. After graduating from college he returned to the US Navy for a second tour of duty. After his final discharge, John mostly worked in sales prior to teaching and coaching for a year in Streeter, ND and a year in Montpelier, ND. He returned to the sales field and sold various products throughout the entirety of his life. Barbara passed away on July 21, 2010.
John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Salesman’s Club.
He is survived by his six children: Mark J. (Carole Robinson) Grim, San Francisco, CA; Bradley M. (Mary E.) Grim, Fergus Falls, MN; Julie R. (Ken) Schmieding, Russellville, AR; Robert S. (Sheila) Grim, Indianapolis, IN; William B. Grim, Jamestown, ND; and Nancy J. (Duane) Lang, Jamestown, ND; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers and sisters, Donald, Paul, Nancy, Bill, Peggy, and Alice Jean.
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Kristi Weber officiating.
Inurnment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
