John Olson, 87 Aberdeen, SD, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at ManorCare Health Services, Aberdeen, SD

John Wilbur Olson was born August 16, 1924 at Berlin, ND, the son of Carl W. and Lovina I. Curless. He was raised in Berlin and attended Badger School #4 and LaMoure High School, graduating in 1943. He farmed for a time and worked as a well driller from 1958 to 1980 when he retired. He cared for his father, living in Aberdeen, SD in the winters and on the family farm in Berlin, ND during the summer. On September 15, 1984, he married Olga M. Wortman at the United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, SD. Olga died on July 19, 2008.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Joann (John) Hoffman, Aberdeen, SD; a niece, Elaine (Greg) Guthrie, Tomahawk, WI; 6 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Virgil Olson, Bellevue, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Carl and a sister, Viola.

Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley, ND.

Visitation - One hour before the service at the church.

Interment - Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, ND.
