John Quanrud, 74, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown. John was born May 30, 1929 in Bismarck, ND the son of Theodore & Selma (Sather) Quanrud. He attended school and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1947. He attended and graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND in 1951. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951, and was stationed in Salzburg, Austria. He was discharged in 1953. On June 21, 1957, he married Mary Berner in Jamestown. John worked in the parts business before establishing his own manufacturing firm. He then worked as a realtor before joining the Jamestown Sun as a writer and photographer. He retired as the Jamestown Sun news editor.
John was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and greatly enjoyed living at Spiritwood Lake, Jamestown, ND.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, Jamestown, ND; one daughter, Dr. Myra Quanrud (Andrew) Hennessey, Jamestown, ND; one grandson, Glenn Hennessey.
He was preceded in death by parents, three brothers, one sister and one son, Glen.

Visitation: 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
