John ?Jack? C. Wilkinson, 88, Montpelier, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, farmer and friend, died May 30, 2008 at his home in Jamestown.
Jack was born in Jamestown on January 1, 1920 to John and Mary (?May? Richardson) Wilkinson. Jack attended country school in Sharlow Township through the 8th grade. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1936. As a young adult, he played fiddle with a 4-piece band for community dances. He married Mildred Neva, Courtenay, on January 2, 1941 at Jamestown. They farmed and raised their family in the Millarton area until retiring. After retirement, they spent 22 winters in Mesa, AZ. He enjoyed playing bridge in a Jamestown couple?s club and League Shuffleboard while in AZ. He received much joy spending time with and showed his love by serving & giving to his family, friends and community.
During his lifetime, Jack served and presided on numerous boards and organizations. Including: Stutsman County ASCS Committee, Stutsman Co. Crop Improvement Assn., Water Management, Stutsman Co. Fair, ND State Fair, Jamestown Credit Union, 4-H Advisory Committee, ND Credit Union League, Norwest Bank, Jamestown Grain Inspection, ND Oil Co. of Alfred, A 50+ year member of the ELKS, Senior Warden and Lay Reader of Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Millie; one son, John ?Jack Jr.? (Melissa), Alberton, MT; three daughters: Mary Ann Wilkinson, Ottertail, MN; Cathy (Terry) Schlenker, Montpelier; Beth (Jay) Larson, Apple Valley, MN; a brother-in-law: Ronald Ottes, Greenwood, SC; 20 grandchildren: Stephen, Lori & Julie Wilkinson, Bart Murack, Kristi (Eric Vraa) West; Aaron, Makayla, Jordan, Jared, Monica, Amber, Cassia, Micah, Ethan, Simeon & Garnet Schlenker; Clinton (Carissa) Wilkinson; Grant, Nicholas & Cole Larson. 7 great-grandchildren: Devin Wilkinson, James Morrison, Jacob, Anna, Lily & Wyatt Vraa; Jacob & Tyler Wilkinson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, James ?Jim? Allen, and one sister, Elizabeth, ?Betty? Ottes.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown, with Father Kevin Goodrich officiating.
Prayer service: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown
