Joseph James

Joseph James, 61, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Mr. James was born in Minot, ND on September 27, 1945, the son of Marvin and Anna (Fleigert) James. He grew up in Garrison where he received his education. After moving to Whittier, California where he worked as a stock clerk he enlisted in the US Army at Ft. Ord, CA on June 22, 1965. He served in the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge on April 30, 1970 in St. Louis, MO. He moved to Jamestown where he drove for the Yellow Taxi Service. Later he moved to Medina where he met and married Ardella Sam Keeler. He was employed with the Medina Cheese Plant until they closed, then worked on the Lyle Williams farm and Dean Schlacht farm.

Joe was a member of the Medina Lutheran Church and the Medina America Legion.

In 1985 he moved to Jamestown with his family. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown and an active member of the DAV and VFW.

Joe is survived by his wife, Ardella, Jamestown; two daughters, Marie James, Jamestown and Angela James, Rapid City, SD; two stepdaughters, Julie Keeler, Jamestown and Nancy Keeler, Valley City, ND; one grandson; one granddaughter; one step granddaughter; and three half brothers, Don White, Grove, OK, Jim (Edith) White, Turtle Lake, ND and Eugene (Marcella) White, Whiteshield, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown with Pastor Doug Opp officiating.

Visitation: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota
