Joseph William Mcguire

Joseph William McGuire was born September 17, 1909 at Kensal, ND the son of Thomas and Rose (Niedicken) McGuire. He attended the Kensal School, broke horses and farmed with his father and with other area farmers before starting his own dray business in 1932. Joe and Catherine Marie Nogosek were married January 3, 1934 at St. John's Catholic Church, Kensal, ND. They made Kensal their home. Joe became a Standard Oil agent in 1938. He retired from Standard Oil in 1968 after 31 years with them. He also worked for the U. S. Postal Service for 28 years. Catherine died September 11, 1992. Joe has continued to make Kensal his home.

Survivors include his 3 daughters, Phyllis Felchle, Grand Forks, ND, Connie (Earl) Behm, Valley City, ND and JoAnn (David) Vining, Jamestown, ND; 1 son-in-law, Wendelen Scherr, Bismarck, ND; 1 daughter-in-law, Sherry McGuire, Jamestown, ND; 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Eleanor Fisk, Lady Lake, Florida and 1 brother, Gerald McGuire, Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sons and 1 daughter.

Joe was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Kensal. He had been the former Mayor of Kensal, a member of the Kensal Rural Fire Department and a member of the Kensal School Board.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at St. John's Catholic Church, Kensal, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Lisko Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to services in the church on Saturday.
Interment: St. John's Cemetery, Kensal, ND.
