Joyce Lavonne (Neustel) Hanson

Joyce LaVonne (Neustel) Hanson, Robinson, ND, died Tuesday October 16, 2018 at Ave Maria in Jamestown, ND.

Joyce was born October 10, 1931 in Robinson, the daughter of Herbert and Hazel (Madson) Neustel. She received her education in Robinson and received a teaching certificate from Valley City. She taught at Frettim country school. She worked as a bookkeeper and teller at Security State Bank of Robinson from 1952 to 1994 with a small break to raise children. On November 21, 1954 Joyce married Dale Hanson in Robinson.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Ladies’ Aid of Robinson. Joyce enjoyed baking for family, especially grandchildren. Her buns, cookies, banana bread, kuchen, and lefse will be missed by many. She also enjoyed attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren. One of Joyce and Dale’s favorite fall pastimes was attending the various lutefisk suppers around the state.

Joyce is survived by five children Greg Hanson, Drayton, ND, Gary (Sandra) Hanson, Elk River, MN, Gayle Cook, Dawson, ND, Geneal (Randy) St. Aubin, Apple Valley, MN and Gwyn (Scott) Gust, Jamestown; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Wolf, Pettibone, one sister-in-law Glenda Neustel, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her husband.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Robinson, ND with Pastor Trish DeBoer officiating.

Burial: 1:00 PM, Monday, October 22, 2018 at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
