Joyce Koenig, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, August 7, 2006 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.
Joyce Perlenfein was born September 9, 1924 in Fullerton, North Dakota the daughter of John and Lydia (Eisenbies) Perlenfein. She was raised on the family farm with eleven other siblings. She married Marvin Nelson on April 7, 1943 and raised three children in Fargo, ND. They moved to Jamestown in 1955. Marvin died in August 1964. Joyce married Clinton Koenig in November 1967 and they had one child. Joyce worked in the dietary department at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home until her retirement.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, yard work, all kinds of crafts, but most of all she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by two sons: Jerry (Sharon) Nelson, Walcott, ND and Robert Nelson, Jamestown; two daughters: Lori Schmaltz, Anamoose, ND and Tamara (Mark) Chapin, Jamestown; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and four sisters: Marjorie Gustafson, Oakes, ND, Helen Chrital, Lake Havasu, AZ, Bonnie Edwards, Ohio and Barbara Edinger, Rollings Hills, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Marvin; second husband; Clinton; one son-in-law, Doug Schmaltz and two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, August 11, 2006 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Robert Hill officiating.
Visitation: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND (at a later date)
