J.P. Munsch

John ""J.P."" Munsch, 84, Pettibone, North Dakota died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota.

John Munsch was born May 8, 1922 in Medina, North Dakota the son of George and Lydia (Lang) Munsch. He graduated from Tuttle High School in 1940. Following graduation he joined the Civil Conservation Corps for one year, after which he joined the US Navy on October 15, 1943 in Woodland, California. He was stationed at the Naval Hospital near San Francisco, CA. He was honorably discharged on May 21, 1946. After his discharge Johnnie spent time in California working for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He returned to the Tuttle/Pettibone area and went to work for LH Dethloff Electric. In 1954 Johnnie went to Auctioneers school in Mason City, Iowa. He cried auctions for 51 years. Johnnie also played drums in his band, J.P. Munsch & the Musical Highlighters and J.P. Munsch & His Bunch, ""some bigger, none better"" for 50 years.

On January 22, 1982 Johnnie married the love of his life, Amy Paulson. They lived in Pettibone all their married life. Amy died November 8, 1992. He continued to reside in Pettibone until his death. Johnnie deeply cared about the Pettibone community and gave a great deal of his time and talents to multiple organizations.

Johnnie is survived by two sisters, Esther (Willie J) Leno, Bismarck, ND and Ann Fandrich, Denver, CO; two brothers, Donald (Sharon) Dethloff, Couer d' Alene, ID and Rueben (Clara) Munsch, Dickinson, ND; one stepson, Kenneth Alber, Eldridge, ND, numerous nieces and nephews and step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a stepdaughter, Nellie Jean Alber, two brothers, Edwin and George, Jr. and two sisters, Margaret and Alice.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the Pettibone Community Hall with Deaconess Candyce Wick officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 19, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Tuttle Cemetery, Tuttle, North Dakota.
