Judith Andrea DeGroot, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Jamestown Hospital.
Judith ""Judy"" Fossen was born on a farm near Maddock, North Dakota. She was one of five daughters of Anton and Julia Fossen. She attended school in the Maddock area including a one room rural elementary school. Judy married Ernest DeGroot from Knox, North Dakota on October 8, 1947 shortly after he returned from World War II.
Judy was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked for 20 years at the Anne Carlsen Center for Children. She enjoyed reading, watching television, crocheting, and socializing with friends. She had been a resident of Central Dakota Village in Jamestown for almost five years.
She and Ernest were inseparable for nearly 55 years of marriage. Now they are together again.
Judy is survived by her four children, Earl DeGroot of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Yvonne Schenstad of Burnsville, Minnesota, Les DeGroot, of Jamestown, North Dakota, and Patricia DeGroot of San Diego, California. In addition to her children, she is survived by two sisters, Delores Walters of Bismarck and Lenora Newman of Fessenden, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in September 2002, and her sisters Clara Halverson and Irene Menke.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Rich Fitzer officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
