Julia Schmoker

Julia Schmoker, 72, of Dickey, ND peacefully passed away on February 18, 2021 at St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure ND surrounded by loved ones after a difficult battle with cancer.

Julia Ann Wilkes was born, the oldest of four kids, on October 22, 1948 to Herman and Eva (Wald) Wilkes in Oakes, ND. After Julia graduated from Dickey School in 1966, she pursued an education in business in Jamestown, ND and later worked for a CPA there.

Julia married Noel Schmoker on June 1, 1968. Together they had seven children. While busy at home caring for the kids, she found time to start her own ceramic business. Julia had a gift for painting eyes on figurines. Later, Julia started working at St. Rose Care Center as a cook. She enjoyed “doctoring up” recipes to make more flavorful food for those that she cared for. After over 20 years of service, she retired. Julia was a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church Dickey, ND where she also served on multiple committees.

In December 2017, Julia was diagnosed with cancer.

Julia is survived by her husband, Noel, a brother, Dennis, a sister, Janet, sister-in-law, Ellen Ann, six children Brian, Todd (Corinne), Lori (Lyndon), Tracy, Barb (Brady), Michael, eight grandchildren Danielle (Logan), Samantha (Talon), Cadence, Hunter, Barrett, Trisha, Jacey and Harley, as well as many nieces, nephews and “fur babies.”

Julia was preceded in death by her father and mother, Herman and Eva, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Emma, a sister, Karen, a sister-in-law, Eva Jean, and a daughter, Renee.
