Kamari Leigh Lawson, 10, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Monday afternoon, July 15, 2024, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident west of Jamestown.
Kamari was born on April 12, 2014, in Sacramento, CA, the son of Richard Lawson and La Nisa Smith. The family moved to Jamestown in 2015 and he was going to be a 5th grader at Gussner Elementary this fall. Kamari would bring home as many books as his backpack would fit because he liked reading and learning. He also liked staying home to play Minecraft, Fortnite, and Grand Turismo Racing. Kamari enjoyed skateboarding, Pokemon, and Spiderman. He was a devoted son to his mom, whom he cared for deeply and would help his dad often. At home was the great debate – “I love you!” “I love you more!”
Kamari leaves behind his mom, La Nisa Smith; dad, Richard Lawson; siblings he playfully fought with, Richard, Carolyn, and Emily; grandparents, Jennifer Smith, Ken Baltzley, Heather Watford, Keith Watford, Richard Lawson, Kathleen Steele; great-grandmas, Betty Lawson and Betty Baltzley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
