Karen Ann Grabinger, 77, of Cleveland, ND, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck, ND, surrounded by her family after losing her battle with cancer.
Karen Baumgartner Grabinger was born to Earl and Marie (Bischoff) Baumgartner on September 6, 1941 in Jamestown. Karen went to school in Courtenay, ND. She played basketball and was voted “Carnival Queen” while in high school. Karen married Fred Grabinger on June 18, 1959 at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Windsor, ND. From this union 3 children were born – Randy, James, and Joan. Karen worked many jobs, including post office clerk, cook and tended bar at the Windsor Bar, school custodian, school bus driver, painting barns, and working construction with her husband. Karen’s hobbies included fishing, camping, reading, playing cards, an occasional trip to the casino, but mostly doing anything that involved being with her family.
Karen is survived by her husband, Fred; children, Randy (Vally), James (Kathy), and Joan (Dwane) Wanzek; brother, Fred Baumgartner; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Marie Baumgartner; grandson, Josh; brother-in-law, Bob; and her in-laws, Burt and Inez Grabinger; and sister-in-law, Betty Hoye.
Karen will forever be loved and missed by her family and the people whose lives she touched.
Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Windsor, ND with Father Parks officiating.
Burial: St. Pauline’s Cemetery, Windsor, ND.
