Karen Wilkes, 53, Beverly Hills, CA, formerly of Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at her home in Beverly Hills.
Karen Mary Wilkes was born October 7, 1954 in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Herman and Eva (Wald) Wilkes. She was raised and attended school in Dickey, ND and graduated from Marion High School in 1972. She attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND and then worked for a brief time as a dental assistant in Fergus Falls, MN. She then moved to Jamestown, ND where she worked as an assistant and later as a receptionist and office manager for dentist, Dr. Ed Anderson. In 1997, she moved to Beverly Hills, CA where she worked as the office manager at the Dr. Larry Rifkin Dental Clinic.
Karen was a member of the Basilica Of St. James when she lived in Jamestown, where she was very active in many facets of the parish including the Religious Education Program and the annual HOPE Dinner and Auction. Karen enjoyed gourmet cooking and traveling.
Survivors include 3 siblings: Dennis (Linda) Wilkes, Fargo, ND; Julia Ann (Noel) Schmoker, Dickey, ND; Janet (Gary) Estenson, Frazee, MN; 12 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews and many friends and co-workers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Funeral Service - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.
Sharing of Memories - 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Visitation - 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown and for 1½ hours prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Interment - Assumption Cemetery, Dickey, ND
