Karl Limvere, 65, Medina, North Dakota passed away on May 19, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
Karl Limvere was born June 24, 1945 in Wiesenthal, Czechoslovakia, to Helena and Enno. In 1950, Karl with his mother and siblings immigrated to the United States settling in Valley City, North Dakota. Karl graduated from Valley City High School in 1963. He worked for KOVC during high school and continued working there as a disc jockey and news director until 1968. He married Jean Poppen on May 26, 1967 and in 1968 they moved to Jamestown. Karl started work at the North Dakota Farmers Union state office. He held various positions during the 27 years he was there. In 1977, he and his family moved to Montpelier, ND where he continued working for the Farmers Union and enjoyed gardening. In 1995, he went to Washington, DC to work for Senator Byron Dorgan as the Agriculture and Trade Policy Director. In 1999, they moved back to North Dakota, this time to Medina. He served as the pastor of Zion United Church of Christ until his death.
He enjoyed serving on various boards and committees throughout his life with the latest being Chase Lake Foundation, Lions and FAARMS. During his lifetime he was involved with the Stutsman County Rural Water Assocation, North Dakota State Historical Society, National Executive Committee for United Church of Christ and Moderator of the Northern Plains UCC. He also helped start the Farmers Market in Valley City and Jamestown. He dearly loved his grandchildren, Taylor Baxter and Tameka Limvere.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, Medina; four children: Kristin (Tom) Baxter, Fairview, MT, Enno Limvere, Ipswich, SD, Peter (Amber) Limvere, Fargo, ND , and Leslie Limvere Fargo, ND; two grandchildren; and his siblings, Enno (Joan) Limvere, Cross Lake, MN and Joanna Keenan, Las Vegas, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Cyndie Gutierrez Limvere; and sister, Mare McFarland.
