Karl B. Paasch, 74, of Jamestown and Wimbledon, ND, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at his home in Jamestown.
Karl Bond Paasch was born December 19, 1937, in Jamestown, ND, the son of Carl and Leone (Bond) Paasch. He grew up on the family farm near Wimbledon and graduated from Wimbledon High School. Karl joined the US Navy in 1955 and was stationed at various locations, including Enewetak Island and California, and was involved with Morse code communications. He returned to North Dakota upon discharge from the Navy and attended colleges in the state, attaining a degree from UND. Karl worked on the family farm and joined the Peace Corps. in 1966. He lived in Kenya, Africa for two years and worked with the Masai, teaching them agriculture development. While in the Peace Corps, Karl met Irene O. Hite and they married on February 28, 1971. They settled on the family farm near Wimbledon and Karl farmed for many years; he loved the land. He retired in 1994 and they spent their winters in Jamestown.
Karl is survived by his wife, Irene Paasch, Jamestown; three sons, Antony Karl (Rebecca) Paasch, Spencer, NY, Wynne Charles Paasch, Washington, D.C., and Hans William (Charity) Paasch, Missoula, MT; and three granddaughters, Greta, Clara, and Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Boschee.
