Katherine Elsworth, 91, Bismarck, North Dakota, formerly of Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood, North Dakota. Katherine Woodring was born October 10, 1912 in Norwalk, Iowa the daughter of William A. and Ella (Smith) Woodring. She grew up and graduated from school in Norwalk. Kay graduated from Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa in 1933. She married Dr. John Nelson Elsworth on July 9, 1941 in Bismarck, ND. She traveled with her husband while he was in the Army. After his discharge in 1945 they lived in Harlan, Iowa, then in 1946 they moved to Jamestown where they made their home ever since. Dr. Elsworth died March 3, 1995. She moved to Bismarck in March of 2000.
She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown and a past member of the ND State Medical Auxiliary, Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary and the A.B. Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Kay is survived by three daughters, Anne (James) Scheible, Chatfield, MN; Mary (Kern) Walker, New Brighton, MN and Jean (Charles) Foltz, Bismarck, ND, seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Friday, December 19, 2003 at Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown with the Rev. Bart Davis officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Jamestown Hospital Foundation or Grace Episcopal Church, both of Jamestown, North Dakota.
