Katherine E. Miska

Katherine Esther Kropp was born February 17, 1915 on the family farm near Buchanan, ND, the daughter of John Leo and Margaret (Wagner) Kropp. She was raised on the farm and attended school in Buchanan. Katherine married Joseph Miska at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Pingree, ND on October 15, 1936. They farmed on several different farms near Buchanan and Pingree before moving into Jamestown in 1950. Katherine worked at the Vita Bakery and Walsh's Market in Jamestown and later at National Foods until retiring in 1977. Joseph died in 1992.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Elaine Nieland, Edmunds, ND and 1 son, Myron (Jo), Reedsport, OR; 1 daughter-in-law, Helen Miska, Montgomery, AL; 12 Grandchildren,18 great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, David, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and a son-in-law, Roger Nieland.

Katherine had been a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Buchanan, ND, St. Margaret's Altar Society, and the Tri-Parish Choir and was also a member of St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel and for 1 hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
