Kathleen Madden

March 10, 1939 — March 18, 2024

It is with joyful sadness that we announce Kathleen Frances Madden rejoined her beloved Lord on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the age of 85. Those blessed with the privilege of knowing Kathleen know how important family was to her. While she kept her circle of family and friends small, those in that close circle were cherished dearly. Her strong Christian faith guided her through many adversities, while helping her remain kind and compassionate.

Kathleen was born to Raymond and Lovera (Arrowwood) Homuth in March 1939. She grew up on the family farm near Buchanan, North Dakota. She had five older siblings and two younger siblings. When she was a young girl, her mother took a job in a neighboring town and many of the responsibilities of the younger children and household became hers.

Family was of utmost importance to Kathleen. She married and had four children, mostly raising them on her own. Later she married James Madden and they remained together until his death in 1995. Her children and grandchildren remained the highlight of her life. Her youngest daughter died in 2013, which was an enormous loss for her.

She is survived by her sons Mark Redinger of New Rockford ND, and Dale (Michelle) Redinger of Jamestown ND, and her daughter Darla (Jerry) Van Erem of Jamestown ND, as well as her four grandchildren Karen (Jade) Eckroth of Jamestown ND, Karissa Van Erem of Saint Paul MN, Ashley Simms of Fargo ND, and Corey (Jessica) Grothman of Victoria MN.  Her six great grandchildren are Taylor, Gabriel, Carsten, Elin, Katja, and Hayley.  She is also survived by two siblings Eileen (Mike) Brudwick of Fargo ND, and Kerry Homuth of Riverside CA.

She was reunited in death with her daughter Rena Grothman, her husband James Madden, her parents, her sister Viola Overbo, her brothers Garry Homuth, Kenneth Homuth, Robert Homuth, and Ronald Homuth.

POSTPONED:  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday, April 8, 2024 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND with Very Reverend Fr. Chad Wilhelm, presiding.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
